FAQS

WHAT BRAND ARE YOUR HEATERS?

We have 2 models of the Craft’A’Camper diesel heaters. Both the LITE and PRO models come under the Chinese diesel heater umbrella, we don’t shy from this. Having us regulate and monitor factory operations closely means all parts and components meet the standards and versatility of which you expect. All units we supply meet the same en standard BS 6762-2:1991 and will pass any competent habitation check. Please see details on heater models here or read more below:

Craft'A'Camper LITE heaters: we throw away anything that isn’t stainless steel and swap them out with mostly British made parts, it’s important the clamps and connections under the vehicle are strong enough to put up with our salty winter conditions and awfully maintained roads... this heater is one we’ve got the most experience with. Installs of this unit come with 18 months warranty as standard. We use parts from multiple trusted suppliers and assemble and test in house here in the UK. It’s a very reliable option designed to suit all budgets and is available in a 4kw option. These heaters come with a manual fan speed mode, a rough thermostat mode and a wireless key fob remote too - these heaters won’t turn on and off automatically on the thermostat though, just automatically change the fan speed accordingly. We custom order the wiring looms and use a higher quality fuel line with stronger clamps like those you’d find on a motorcycle fuel system. These heaters are only installed by us and are not available on a supply only service.

Craft’A’Camper PRO heaters: this is a newer model which has been designed from the ground up. All units come with 24 months warranty. The manufacturing of these units is outsourced and we supply strict requirements to the factories but still add further smaller parts before shipping and/or installation here in the UK. Only we sell these units, they’re not available from third parties but with the brushless fan motor, Kyocera glow plugs and great software - it’s the unit we recommend. They come with a manual fan speed mode, timers and 2 thermostat modes where the unit will automatically turn on and off as the temperature fluctuates. The heater comes standard with the ultra quite fuel pump so none of that irritating clicking you get from some other diesel heaters - the fuel line is also the same uprated stuff used on the LITE model. They also come with a wireless key fob remote and a third party user friendly app too. This is available on a Supply or Supply & Installed basis.

Autoterm heaters: Autoterm have a good reputation here in the UK, most of our customers who choose them have simply read their good reviews and we install on their behalf. The main advantage of these units is the network of repairers - with the Craft’A’Camper models, you may struggle to find repair options near you but Autoterm have authorised repairers all over the UK, us included. This being said, on the rare occurrence of fault with any of the units, we’ll always be happy to help. The only real advantage to make you choose the Autoterm model over the Craft’A’Camper models would be the software driven ability’s.

Warranty is different per product. Everything supplied and installed gets at least 12 months. The information is given at the bottom of each products description on our marketplace. We have a whole page for detailed warranty: here.

WHAT KW DO YOU OFFER?

Craft’A’Camper PRO and Autoterm units are available in both 2kw or 4kw. Note that the 4kw Craft’A’Camper models can run on a 2kw setting with no issues - running the heaters on a low setting wont cause sooting issues, this is solely a myth from early generation diesel heaters. There's lots of misinformation out there so don't be fooled by advice from self-certified experts. Having a 4kw unit in a smaller van is fine, having a 2kw unit in a larger van isn’t ideal but will fine for most usage in the UK. For the Autoterm units the 4kw units are discouraged due to their increased noise output. Craft’A’Camper LITE units are only available in 4kw.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

Our main unit is near Basingstoke but we run a fully mobile service coving the entire mainland UK. We try to schedule in jobs within the same area at the same time. This allows us to pass the savings on to you. We may have sooner availability at our unit in Basingstoke, we work from here most weekends. We should be opening a northern unit around Rotherham/Doncaster for late 2025. Unfortunately the landlord at our Basingstoke unit wont let us list a google maps location - this is something we’re working on, it’s in the RG25 area.

DO YOU GIVE ANY WARRANTY?

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU TAKE?

Through our website we accept: Debit/Credit card payments, PayPal or Easybank Transfers. For payments on the day of the job we accept: Online card payments but encourage Bank Transfers for any remaining balance on the day.

DO YOU HAVE ANY REVIEWS?

We launched our Facebook page in August 2021, this is where you'll find reviews from customers. Our previous website did not allow us to transfer reviews here, so they are lost forever! However, can assure you that we have thousands of happy customers. Our name is proudly given in many facebook groups like Dubbed Out Community, Woman with Campervans and VAN LIFE - UK.

WHAT IS THE 'OUT OF AREA FEE'?

For installs between September - April, there will be NO CHARGE for your area if you are on the mainland. Out of these months the out of area charge will fluctuate depending on demand for your area. If there is a charge, this will range between £10-£50 but most of the time there will be no charge for where you are – It’s always best to get in touch before making a booking to confirm if we have ‘no charge’ dates for you location. Our unit is near Basingstoke where we have availability most weekends but please get in touch to arrange.

DO YOU DO FULL CAMPER CONVERSIONS?

Yes! However, we have quite the waiting list for these. It's best to message us first and then we can discuss availability. Smaller 'mini conversion' jobs may be brought forward but larger jobs will need to be discussed in detail.
